DST Announces SimWise V10.0

Major release features completely redesigned user interface, Python API integration, and enhanced programming capabilities

(Canton, MI) – DST (Design Simulation Technologies, Inc.; www.design-simulation.com), a leading provider of affordable and flexible physics based simulation software for the professional and education markets, today announced the availability of SimWise V10.0. This major release represents the most significant update to SimWise in years, featuring a completely redesigned user interface, powerful new programming language integration capabilities, and comprehensive documentation transformation.

SimWise V10.0 introduces a completely redesigned user interface that is compatible with modern applications and provides improved functionality through reorganized command groupings. The new interface maintains SimWise's ease-of-use philosophy while providing engineers with more intuitive access to the software's comprehensive simulation capabilities.

A groundbreaking new feature in SimWise V10.0 is Python API integration that allows engineers to leverage Python programming for advanced simulation workflows. The new Input Control Links capability supports integration with MATLAB functions, Python functions, and user-developed Windows DLL functions, enabling unprecedented customization and automation possibilities for simulation processes.

SimWise V10.0 transforms the documentation experience by moving to an online documentation platform with enhanced accessibility. The new system provides comprehensive User Documentation, Tutorial Guides, and Training Courses that are readily available and continuously updated to support user success.

Enhanced CAD interoperability includes expanded file support across all major CAD systems and a significant upgrade to the IronCAD interface that now supports assembly constraint transfer. This improvement streamlines workflows for IronCAD users by automatically converting assembly relationships to SimWise motion constraints.

New simulation export capabilities include XML file output with compressed zip file options and the innovative xMechanics tool for Simscape Multibody model export. These enhancements expand SimWise's integration with downstream analysis tools and enable more sophisticated workflow automation.

"SimWise V10.0 represents a transformational release that positions SimWise for the next decade of simulation technology," said Alan Wegienka, DST President. "The combination of a modern user interface, Python programming integration, and enhanced CAD connectivity creates unprecedented opportunities for engineers to customize and automate their simulation workflows. We've maintained our commitment to affordability while delivering enterprise-level capabilities."

SimWise V10.0 continues to deliver 3D kinematic and dynamic motion simulation tightly coupled with 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Optimization in a single, affordable package. The enhanced programming capabilities and modern interface make it easier than ever for engineers to integrate simulation into their design processes.

Major capabilities of SimWise V10.0 include:

  • Completely redesigned modern user interface with reorganized command structure.
  • Python API integration enabling custom simulation workflows and automation.
  • Input Control Links supporting MATLAB, Python, and Windows DLL function integration.
  • 3D dynamic motion simulation with robust 3D contact capabilities.
  • Comprehensive 3D Finite Element Analysis including Linear Static, Normal Modes, Buckling, Thermal, Thermal-Structural, and Frequency Response analysis types.
  • Advanced material modeling with orthotropic and anisotropic material property support.
  • Optimization capabilities using results from motion simulation and FEA analyses.
  • Enhanced CAD integration with IronCAD assembly constraint transfer capability.
  • Simulink interface enabling co-simulation with control systems.
  • Comprehensive export capabilities to NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, ADAMS, and Simscape Multibody.
  • Online documentation platform with User Documentation, Tutorials, and Training Courses.
  • Associative interfaces with SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor, SpaceClaim, Onshape, Geomagic Design, and IronCAD.

About DST

DST develops physics-based simulation software. The company's products are used by engineering professionals to build and test virtual models of their mechanical designs, and by STEM educators and students in the classroom to teach and learn about physics and engineering kinematics, dynamics, and machine design.

With DST's SimWise 4D, Working Model 2D, and Dynamic Designer products, users evaluate design performance by conducting complete, accurate simulations. Engineers, professors and students can quickly perform "what-if" analyses, find and correct design problems, plus refine and validate designs without the need for physical prototypes.

Students in high school and college use Interactive Physics, DST's award-winning educational software, to explore and understand the physical world through simulation.

DST develops, markets, and supports these software tools for commercial and academic users worldwide. Selected DST products are available from leading CAD suppliers and CAE resellers. Learn more by visiting the DST website at www.design-simulation.com.
