License Types

When you purchase a DST product you need to choose the type of license and the duration of the license.

Licenses are configured as either Node locked, Dongle locked, or Network/Floating. These configurations are described in detail on the Support Licensing page.

License Duration

The duration of a license is one of the following:

• Tokens – Token licensing ties license cost to actual days of use rather than a fixed calendar term. Customers purchase a pool of tokens that is drawn down each day the software is actively used — Working Model 2D consumes one token per active day and SimWise 4D consumes three. Tokens are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase, and both products draw from the same pool, so customers running both manage a single license investment. • Annual / Subscription – This type of license runs for a fixed term, typically one (1) year, and may also be offered as a monthly subscription that renews automatically until cancelled. When the term ends (or the subscription is cancelled), the license stops working. It may be renewed by paying the license fee for another term. Users of annual and subscription licenses are entitled to any product updates that are released during the active term.
• Perpetual – This type of license never expires and allows the use of a specific version in perpetutity, subject to the terms and conditions of the DST license agreement. This license does not include any update or support services. Non-commercial users will have the oportunity to purchase new versions and special upgrade pricing. Commercial users can optionally purchase a maintenance and support contract that provide access to all upgrades and to customer support for the duration of the contract.
