License Types

When you purchase a DST product you need to choose the type of license and the duration of the license.

Licenses are configured as either Node locked, Dongle locked, or Network/Floating. These configurations are described in detail on the Support Licensing page.

License Duration

The duration of a license is one of the following:

• Short Term – This type of license typically runs for a period of one (1), three (3), or six (6) months. When the duration has passed, the license stops working. It may be renewed for another period by paying the license fee. Users of short term licenses are entitled to any product updates that are released during the duration of the license. Commercial short term licenses also include a support contract for the license suration.
• Annual – This type of license runs for a period one (1) year. When the year has passed, the license stops working. It may be renewed for another year by paying the license fee. Users of annual licenses are entitled to any product updates that are released during the year. Commercial annual licenses also include a support contract for the year.
• Perpetual – This type of license never expires and allows the use of a specific version in perpetutity, subject to the terms and conditions of the DST license agreement. This license does not include any update or support services. Non-commercial users will have the oportunity to purchase new versions and special upgrade pricing. Commercial users can optionally purchase a maintenance and support contract that provide access to all upgrades and to customer support for the duration of the contract.
