1. How we use and collect your information

We will not sell or rent your personal contact information to other companies. We will not disclose your personal contact information to other companies, except in the limited manner and for the limited purposes described below. This web site has several forms and additional collection methods that may require you to provide contact and other information. We use contact information to send promotional material about our company and products, and, in some cases, on behalf of related third-party products and services. If you have purchased our software or requested information, we may use this information to notify you of new products, updates, or other information related to your purchases. You may choose not to receive this additional information. (See "How to remove or update your information," below.)

Design Simulation Technologies, Inc. (DST) uses current and past user information internally within DST and with its partners, service providers, and authorized distributors in order to provide users with support, service, promotional and/or other product information. DST may release current or past user information to third parties for limited purposes in the event DST believes that usage is (i) in violation of the terms and conditions of use of the DST web site; (ii) used to commit unlawful acts; and/or (iii) is required to be disclosed to comply with applicable laws or regulations, or with a court or administrative order. DST may also disclose aggregate information to third parties.

The DST On-line Store uses an order form to collect contact and other information. The contact information is used to ship your order, to send you promotional material about our company, to allow product delivered electronically to be accessed or, if necessary, to get in touch with you.

Important Note: The DST web site contains links to other sites such as universities and other businesses. If you visit one of those sites, please note that we do not control their privacy practices. Therefore, we urge you to learn about their privacy practices before leaving your contact information with them.

IP addresses and logging. We use your IP address to administer our web site and, occasionally, to help diagnose problems with our server. We may use data collected in web server log files, JavaScript code, and cookies to analyze visitors' behavior to better understand their needs. DST uses a third-party web traffic analysis company to log aggregate information coming through our site on our behalf. DST controls how that data may and may not be used. We do not link this data to personally identifiable information, the data is used to analyze web site traffic and navigation trends such as, but not limited to: your referring URL, the Internet browser being used, the type of operating system used, etc. When you visit the DST web site, one or more cookies may be placed on (or read from) your machine if your browser is set to accept cookies. A cookie is a small data file that we transfer to your computer's hard drive through your web browser. These cookies do not store any personal information on your hard drive; they consist of a simple code that is used to access or maintain current session data, gather broad demographic information, and to help analyze web site traffic. DST may use such non-personal information for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, market research, and improving the content of our web site.

Although Web browsers typically allow cookies by default, most browsers will let you modify settings so that you can decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to take advantage of all of the features of this web site or other web sites you visit.

2. How we protect your information

3. How to remove or update your information

DST sends different types of email and postal mail, including electronic/printed newsletters, and event announcements. You may choose to not receive them.

Please include your name and the email address or postal address that you want to update or remove. We will make every effort to update or remove your information as soon as possible.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

DST may make improvements or changes in the information, services, products, and other materials on the DST web site, at any time without notice. DST may modify this Privacy Policy at any time, and such modifications shall be effective immediately upon posting of the modified Privacy Policy.

4. Interactive Physics and Working Model 2D on the web

Interactive Physics and Working Model 2D are also available as web applications that run in your web browser at design-simulation.com (the "web applications"). This section explains what information the web applications use and how.

Information kept on your device

The web applications run simulations entirely in your browser. Models you open, edit and run stay on your device unless you choose to save them somewhere else. To make the web applications easier to use, your browser keeps a few settings on your device, such as your chosen language, your place in the model library, and your display preferences. It also keeps a copy of the web application and of models you have opened, so they work offline. This information is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for design-simulation.com.

Information we receive

The web applications are delivered through our hosting provider. Like most web servers, our hosting provider may record standard technical information when you load a web application, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time and address of each request. We use this information only to operate and secure the service, and we do not link it to personally identifiable information.

Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive

If you choose to open or save models with Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, the web application asks for your permission through Google's or Microsoft's sign-in.

• What we access: only the files you select with the service's file picker and the files you save with our web applications.
• How we use it: only to open the models you choose and to save the models you ask us to save.
• Where it is stored: your files stay in your own Google Drive or OneDrive. The web applications read and write them directly from your browser. We do not copy them to our servers. The permission you grant is held in your browser for your session and is not stored by us.
• Sharing: we do not sell, share or transfer your files or account information from these services to anyone, and we do not use them for advertising.
• Artificial intelligence: we do not use your files or account information from these services to develop, improve or train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
• Removing access: you can stop the web applications' access at any time. Files already saved remain yours to keep or delete.
  • Google: in your Google Account, under Security, "Your connections to third-party apps & services", at myaccount.google.com/connections.
  • Microsoft personal accounts: in your Microsoft account's app permissions, at account.live.com/consent/Manage.
  • Microsoft school or work accounts: through My Apps at myapps.microsoft.com, or by asking your school's administrator.

Google Drive. We use Google's drive.file permission, which does not allow access to any other files in your Google Drive. Design Simulation Technologies' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements.

Students and schools

Our web applications are used by students, including children under 13. The web applications do not ask students for personal information in order to run models. Where a school provides a web application to its students, the school is responsible for any consent required for students' use of Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive under its own policies and applicable law, such as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
